Writing love songs can be a snap with the right tools. Specifically, serenades often conjure up a visual of a lovesick male below the window of the object of his affection with a guitar. If he is successful, she will swoon and give in to her feelings for him, as well. Writing a serenade can be a lot less dramatic and yield similar results. Here's how to write a serenade.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use repetition vigorously. It helps to bring an idea home by repeating it. "I love you, I love you, I love you," is a powerful verse within the slow melodic tone of a serenade. Don't overuse this technique, or the serenade will sound as if it was written by an amateur.

  2. Step 2

Invoke elements of alliteration into the serenade. "With your beautiful, black bangs..." rolls off the tongue like poetry. This kind of language creates the visual landscape desired in a serenade.

  3. Step 3

Personalize the serenade with specific names and situations. Make the serenade unique with a story that only the writer can write. Use information that only the writer and his or her object knows. This will separate the serenade from lesser songs.

  4. Step 4

Accompany lyrics with very melodic music. Use a piano or guitar to develop the initial foundation of the song. It's OK to layer the song with electric elements like keyboards, but be careful not to drown out what will be great lyrics with an overpowering sound.
