1
Use rope lighting as an inside accent light. Use the rope light as a decorative up light or down light in the kitchen by mounting it on top of or under cabinets. Decorate throughout the house by incorporating rope lights into existing molding. Even use different color rope lights throughout the house matching rope lights to the paint colors in the different rooms.

Decorate the outside of your home with rope lighting. Put the rope lighting along deck railings, inside patio umbrellas, on playhouses, in gardens and along pathways to create a soft, starlit mood. Also, cover tree trunks with rope lighting, and dangle it from the branches to add whimsy to your yard.

Hang rope lighting as a safety precaution. Add rope lights to stairways to provide added light, especially at night. Add rope lighting in children's rooms in the closets or around interior walls as a night light. Decorate home theater rooms with rope lights by the outlining the floors and connecting them to a dimmer switch to have soft lighting to guide moviegoers to their chairs.

Plan the layout of your lighting prior to installation. During the planning process, lay the rope lighting out and check that it is in the vicinity of an outlet. Install the rope lighting using small plastic clips available in most installation kits. The installation kits should include the rope lighting, clips, power-cord connector and splice fittings. The clips are attachable to a wall or fixture using screws.
