Today the means of communication are phone, email and instant messenger conversation. Instead of meeting people at work or in the community, people are meeting each other online in chat rooms. Start a MSN conversation with a stranger and you may be on your way to making a new friend.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on the screen name of the MSN stranger. A chat box will open up in another window. Type your words at the bottom of the box and press "Enter."

  2. Step 2

Start your conversation with ASL, which means age, sex and location. Make sure you tell the stranger your age, sex and location also. For location, make sure you only give your general location such as what state you live in.

  3. Step 3

Make a comment about the other person's MSN screen name. You could tell them how original it is or you like the name for whatever reason you like it. Let them know the name is the reason you started the conversation with them.

  4. Step 4

Ask the stranger a question such as, "What is your favorite TV show?" or "What kind of work do you do?" Answer questions the other person may ask you as long as they do not get too personal.

  5. Step 5

Try telling a joke to spice up the conversation. This could be a funny real story that happened to you. Let the stranger know you like to laugh and have fun.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful not to give any personal information to this stranger. Never reveal your phone number or address to a stranger. Instead provide general information, such as what country or state you live in, which is fine to share.
