The official members of the cheerleading squad don't have to be the only ones who come up with what the crowd cheers at a game. You can have a say in what the crowd yells at the team to get them fired up and moving in the right direction. You'll need some crazy antics, a lot of breath support and maybe a couple friends who'll join the madness. Read on to learn how to start a cheer at a game.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Have confidence that you can get the whole crowd saying what you're thinking. Half the battle is just starting the cheer and waiting for everyone else to go along with you. Have faith, they will.
Step2
Stand up when you are ready to start your cheer and sit down when you're done. This is a way to signal to those around you that you're leading. When you stand when no one else is standing, you draw attention to yourself. Attention in this case is good.
Step3
Give your voice good breath support by breathing in with your stomach and pushing through your diaphragm. Keep your voice low in your register. No one wants to listen to a high-pitched, whiny voice. It sounds less confident and people are less likely to go along.
Step4
Make up your mind what your cheer is going to be and belt it out. Standards include "Defense," "Let's go (add the name of your team)," "Touchdown" and "Take down." Depending on the sport you're watching, the cheers will differ.
Step5
Listen to the cheerleaders if you don't have a cheer of your own down yet. When they're slacking on their jobs, you can jump up and beat them to the punch. They'll go along and be glad they didn't have to think about what to do next.
