How to Change Firefox Icons

The default Firefox icon is a welcome sight to many users. However, if you ever tire of looking at it the same Firefox every day, you can change it to suit your preference. Changing your Firefox icon is simple and can even complement your desktop theme. Read on to learn how to change Firefox icons.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Find an icon that you would like to use as your default Firefox icon. The default Firefox icon consists of a red fox and a globe, but many variations exist including one that seems to "eat" an Internet Explorer icon. Make sure that the icon ends in ".ico."
2. Download the icon.
3. Right-click on your default Firefox icon and scroll down to "Properties." In the pop-up window, select the "Shortcut" tab. On the bottom portion of the window, choose "Change Icon."
4. Click "Browse" and sort through your files until you come across your newly downloaded Firefox icon. Select it and press "OK."
5. Return to the main window and press "Apply" to see how your icon looks against your desktop. If you don't like it, find other icons and experiment with them until you find one that you like.
6. Choose "OK" in the main window to make your changes permanent.
