How to Drag and Drop in Firefox
Firefox's drag and drop function can work to streamline your Internet browsing experience. By dragging and dropping, you can manipulate images, sort links and use your address bar in new ways. Simply apply these tips the next time you open Firefox to see the results for yourself.

Drag a URL to a new tab to have the URL open in that tab. You can also drag a URL to the address bar to have it open in the current tab.

Place your mouse's cursor over an image, click and drag the image into the address bar of Firefox to have the image appear in the same window or tab.

Hover a cursor over an image in a Firefox window and click and drag the image to your desktop to have it automatically save itself to your hard drive.

Highlight one word on a website and drag it to a new tab to have the .com version of the word pop up in the new tab.

Take advantage of gray space on your address bar. Many of the functions outlined above will work to create a new background tab if you drag and drop in open space on your existing tab bar.

Tips & Warnings
URLs do not need to be hyperlinked when dragged. A simple text URL works when you want to drag a URL to a tab and open it.
Highlighted words that you are dragging to a tab cannot contain spaces or punctuation.
