Instructions

    • 1

Complete the actor's makeup. If you apply the crepe hair before the makeup, the makeup will likely get smeared into the edges of the hair and create a messy look that won't be as believable.

    • 2

Apply a liquid adhesive to the skin where the crepe hair will be applied. Most people use spirit gum for this because it's readily available and holds securely. Anyone using spirit gum, however, must have a remover specially made to remove spirit gum ready at hand. Other people use liquid latex, but it can cause reactions in people allergic to latex. Keep the layer of adhesive thin so that the crepe hair sits as close to the skin as possible.

    • 3

Cut the crepe hair into the length you need. Separate the hairs by rolling a section of the hair in between a finger and thumb. Once it's fanned out into a realistic consistency, make small sections that can be applied easily.

Take each section and apply it firmly to the adhesive. Start on one side of the area to be covered and work your way to the other side. Trim any uneven areas after the entire area is completed.
