Step 1
Stick with vanilla. Vanilla is such a classic flavoring that its properties as a garnish are often overlooked. Add flecks of vanilla bean to the top of the milkshake or wedge a whole vanilla bean alongside. The dark bean colors and fragrant aroma will add a nice contrast to the white shake.
-
Step 2
Use vanilla leaves or mint leaves to garnish the milkshake and make it look vibrant and inviting. If you're using mint leaves, a crumbled peppermint candy can be a nice accent flavor, too.
-
Step 3
Heat hot fudge, strawberry, caramel or butterscotch sauce and drizzle it down over the milkshake for added color and flavor. The warm sauce will work its way down through the shake, flavoring it all the way through.
-
Step 4
Sprinkle blueberries and raspberries on top of your milkshake or slice strawberries and arrange them around the top of the glass. Go a little more exotic with your fruit choices and top your vanilla milkshake with slices of kiwi, mango or papaya.
-
Step 5
Top your vanilla shake with a cloud of whipped cream and a cherry for a classic milkshake look and taste.
-
Step 6
Garnish your vanilla milkshake with candy to make it even sweeter. Candy sprinkles, chocolate kisses, fruit-flavored candies and gummy critters can all make your milkshake fun and flavorful. Candies can also be a great way to add a theme to a milkshake, like using heart-shaped candies for Valentine's Day and green and red sprinkles for Christmas.
