How to Join a Church Youth Internship Program

It can be difficult to get a job if you don't have any experience. One way to combat this dilemma is by getting an internship position. Finding a place to hire you as an intern might be right at your fingertips, since many churches offer programs for just this purpose, educating youth in teaching, music and serving others.

1. Ask the pastor or secretary at your church what programs your church has to offer. Find out what you to have to do to apply and what your weekly requirements are.

2. Research others churches to find out if they have programs you might be interested in. Compare them to the programs your church offers based on their reputation and what suits your personality best.

3. Complete the necessary paperwork in a timely manner and be sure you have a ride to get to your internship. Even if you are not getting paid, you want to appear professional.

4. Remember that good work often leads to good recommendations and even job offers in your future. Ask a lot of questions while you are in the training, remembering this is your time to learn and that is what an internship is about.

5. Request extra work beyond the internship if you have the time and the desire. It demonstrates initiative and positive work ethics.

6. Take the initiative and ask if they have a paid job for you if you know you've done a job for them and they seem to appreciate your work. If they cannot offer you a job, ask them if they can refer you to someone will.
