Step 1
Sweep the entire head of hair back into a ponytail. For shorter hairstyles, there is no need to start with the ponytail.

Hold the end of the ponytail and twist the hair clockwise as you do when you wring out a rag. The hair will naturally begin to circle with the tension. Allow the hair to curl up around the base of the ponytail.

Secure the entire ponytail with another elastic tie making sure that you secure the ends in the elastic holder.

Tie a ribbon around the bun. Try a fashionable scarf or other hair decoration if you desire.

Use bobby pins to hold back any pieces of hair that stick out and become bothersome.

Sweep the hair back into a ponytail and secure the ponytail with an elastic tie.

Backcomb the hair in the pony all the way to the base of the hair. When the hair is nice and full, spray it with hairspray.

Wrap the full ponytail around the base of the ponytail and secure it with another elastic tie to style a fuller bun. For shorter hairstyles that you cannot wrap around, use an elastic tie to hold the ends of the hair to style the bun.
