How to Sleep in Class

When you were up late the night before, you may feel the need to take a short nap during class to refresh you for the rest of the day; napping in class takes great skill. If you plan to sleep during class, do so with care to avoid getting caught and possibly receiving detention.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Ask a friend that you sit near to wake you up if it becomes obvious that you are sleeping. Your friend can also subtly wake you up if the teacher is calling on you to answer a question.
Step2
Turn toward the teacher and lean back in your chair. If you don't lean back you may fall forward or start bobbing in your seat while you sleep.
Step3
Prop your chin on your chest so it looks like you are listening to the lecture. This will also help keep you from snoring.
Step4
Cross your arms over your chest. Crossed arms will give the appearance that you are listening intently and help keep you from falling forward.
Step5
Close your eyes only part way. This is a skill that takes practice but is very useful; if you close your eyes completely your teacher will know you are sleeping.
Step6
Sleep lightly so you can wake up easily when class is over. Don't sleep too deeply or you may start to drool or miss the bell at the end of class.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't nap in class when you have a big test coming up. You will need to pay attention to the lectures to be prepared for the test.
  • Avoid napping in class if your grades are suffering.
