The price of some hotels is outrageous. Sometimes it is better to just sleep in your car when on long road trips. It is possible for one to sleep comfortably in a car. It does not matter if you have a big car or a small car, you can get a good night's sleep.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put some blankets and pillows in the trunk of your car. One can always sleep more comfortably when you have a soft pillow and a warm blanket.

  2. Step 2

Use a sleeping bag. One can curl up in the back seat with a nice, comfortable sleeping bag. Sleeping bags are also easy to roll up and store in the trunk of a car.

  3. Step 3

Lock the doors and crack the windows. Do not sleep with the windows all the way down. Just crack them enough that some air can get into the car. Make sure you have the doors locked for safety.

  4. Step 4

Hang something such as towels, sheets, or clothing over the windows. This will help keep things darker when the sun comes up and it will allow you to have a little more privacy.

  5. Step 5

Lay the front seat as far back as it will go or stretch out in the back seat. Always sleep in the seat that will be the most comfortable for you. It is possible to stretch out in most cars.

  6. Step 6

Add food, water and other things you may need to the car.

  7. Step 7

Take a shower at local rest areas or truck stops. If you have a gym membership at the YMCA, you can find a YMCA and take a shower there.
