The Blackberry has revolutionized both the cellphone and PDA markets. The features and functions of the Blackberry go far beyond any previous technology. Users can still do all of the basic cellphone tasks, such as speed dial, with their Blackberries.

From Quick Guide: Using a Blackberry
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a letter or number to assign to the speed dial. The Blackberry has an advantage over a cell phone in that one can assign letters to speed dial. For example, one can assign the "M" key to speed dial one's mother.

  2. Step 2

Open the phone application. Bring up the phone menu using the trackwheel. Select "View Speed Dial List" from the menu. This displays one's current speed dial numbers.

  3. Step 3

Scroll to an empty slot on the speed dial list. Press the trackwheel, which brings up the menu. Select "New Speed Dial" from the menu. This opens the Blackberry Address Book.

  4. Step 4

Select a contact from the Blackberry Address book. Press the trackwheel again. Select "Add Speed Dial" from the menu. If the contact has more than one phone number, such as both a cellular and a home phone number, select the appropriate number to assign to speed dial.

  5. Step 5

Press a speed dial key from the Home Screen or Phone Menu to perform a speed dial with one's Blackberry. This initiates a call to the number assigned to the speed dial key.

Tips & Warnings
  • On a 72xx series model Blackberry, one must enable the option entitled "Dial from Home Screen" in order to speed dial with one's Blackberry from the home screen.
