Download the Gran Turismo 4 Manual. Study the controller diagrams thoroughly. Although the game isn't difficult to master, the controls can seem complex when you first start Gran Turismo 4.

Get licensed. Play through the licensing scenes. You need to complete the IA License in order to get the NISMO 270R. You will need the NISMO 270R later on to hold up in the Extreme races.

Enter the Umbria Rally race on easy. Use the NISMO 270R. Winning this race gives you the Cadillac CIEN '02.

Complete the Capri Rally on easy with the Cadillac CIEN '02, the Tsukuba Wet Race on easy with the Toyota RSC Rally Raid Car '02, the Umbria Rally on normal with the Cadillac CIEN '02 and the Capri Rally on normal with the Cadillac CIEN '02. These races will give you the cars you need to complete the beginner events and provide you with a jump start on Gran Turismo 4.
