Step 1
Choose your eye shadow. Go for a vibrant color such as blue, green or purple. You will need two different shadows, a light one and a darker shade of the same color.
-
Step 2
Decide if you want to use fake eyelashes. You can create a dramatic look by applying lots of mascara but to really do it up, wear fake eyelashes. Follow package directions and apply your false eyelashes before adding your eye makeup.
-
Step 3
Start by applying an eye shadow primer over your entire eyelid all the way up to your brow line. If you don't have primer, you can use loose powder.
-
Step 4
Line your eyes using black liquid eyeliner. The line on the upper lash line should be thicker than the lower lash line and get wider as you move from the inside corner of your eye outward.
-
Step 5
Use a shadow brush to apply the lighter of your two shadows. Sweep the shadow over your entire eyelid, going above the crease, half way to your brow line.
-
Step 6
Take the darker of your two shadows and, using a pointy sponge applicator, apply the shadow all away around your eyes blending it with the liner you applied earlier. Then, apply the darker color to the crease. Sweep it out to the corner of your eye and then down to the lash line creating a "V" shape with the shadow.
-
Step 7
Repeat the above step until the makeup is dark enough to achieve the look you want.
-
Step 8
Apply mascara to your lashes if you aren't wearing false eyelashes. The 1960s look consisted of heavily made up lashes so do several coats of mascara. Place the mascara wand on your lashes and zigzag it back and forth across your lashes. Wait a few seconds between each coat of mascara to give it time to dry.
