How to Decorate Bunk Beds

Children's bedrooms provide a place of retreat and privacy. Decorate your child's room to help it feel more relaxing and fun for them. Whether working with a small or large budget, you can transform your child's room into the space of her dreams. Decorate bunk beds to accent the chosen theme for your child's room, and make bed time an adventure not to be missed.

Things You'll Need

• Paint
• Netting
• Ribbon
• Silk flowers
• Silk butterflies
• Craft or hot glue
• Several yards of canvas
• Sewing machine

Instructions

1. Create a garden theme for the nature loving child. Hang decorative netting over the bed. Glue silk flowers to long strips of ribbon, hang the ribbon so that it drapes with the netting. Glue different sizes and colors of silk flowers to the frame of the bunk bed.

2. Go wild with a jungle theme, and paint the bunk beds in a fun animal print. Paint zebra stripes, giraffe spots or cheetah spots on the frame of the bed. Hang a grass skirt canopy from the ceiling. Attach grass skirting to the bottom of the top bunk, so that the grass hides the bottom bunk, making a cool hideout. Choose solid or coordinating printed sheets and blankets.

3. Foster a fancy for butterflies by hanging a netted canopy over the top bunk. Attach silk butterflies to various places on the net. Wrap colored netting and ribbons around the frames. Attach different colors and sizes of butterflies to the ribbon. Top the beds off with quilted butterfly bedding.

4. Make the bunk beds into a fort by sewing large panels that attach under the top bunk and hang down to hide the bottom bunk. Go fancy by sewing in window flaps that can be tied back. Sew pockets to the inside and outside of the panels for storing favorite stuffed animals, books and other items.
