How to Use Find and Replace in Adobe Fireworks

The find and replace command in Adobe Fireworks CS3 can be used to quickly find and replace any instance of text, font, color, vector object or URL with a new entry. Follow the steps below to find out how you can use the find and replace command in Fireworks.

Things You'll Need:

  • Adobe Fireworks CS3
  1. Step 1

    Start Adobe Fireworks CS3 and open an existing document from your files that contains text or a vector object that you want to find and replace with another piece of text or a different vector object.

  2. Step 2

    Choose the "Window" menu and click "Find" to open the "Find" dialog box.

  3. Step 3

    Select what part of the document you want to search in from the "Search" drop-down list. You can choose to search in the whole document, a selection, a frame or another file.

  4. Step 4

    Use the second drop-down list to choose what you want to find. You can choose to find text, font, color, a URL or a vector object.

  5. Step 5

    Type what you want to find in the "Find" text box. Enter what you want to replace what you typed in the "Find" text box in the "Change to" text box.

  6. Step 6

    Add checkmarks to search only for the whole word, to match the case or in the regular expressions.

  7. Step 7

    Click the "Find" button to find the first instance of what you are looking for. Once you have found it, you can click the "Replace" button to replace that instance. Alternatively, you can use the "Replace All" button to find and replace all instances at one time.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also use the keyboard shortcut of CTRL+F to open the "Find" dialog box in Adobe Fireworks.
