You can easily create a form in Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. In this form, you can include radio buttons that allow a user to choose one option from several options. Follow the steps below to find out how to create and customize a radio button in Adobe Acrobat.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional

Step1
Start Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and open an existing PDF from your files to which you want to add a radio button.
Step2
Select the "Radio Button Tool" from the "Forms" toolbar. The "Radio Button Tool" is the fifth button from the left and is depicted by a picture of a single radio button.
Step3
Click on the open PDF where you would like to add the radio button. Hold down the mouse button and drag the radio button to the size you want it to be. Release the mouse button once you have the desired size. The radio button will appear in the location you have selected and the "Radio Button Properties" dialog box will open onto the Adobe Acrobat desktop.
Step4
Choose the "General" tab at the top of the "Radio Button Properties" dialog box to set the general settings for the radio button. Type a name in the "Name" textbox and an explanation of the radio button in the "Tooltip" textbox.
Step5
Use the "Appearance" tab in the "Radio Button Properties" dialog box to display the appearance settings. Change the color of the border and fill by clicking on the color wells beside "Border Color" and "Fill Color." If you have chosen to add a border you can set the "Line Thickness" and "Line Style" using the drop-down menus. You can also choose the size, color and type of font in the "Text" section at the bottom.
Step6
Highlight the "Options" tab from the dialog box and use the "Button Style" drop-down list to select the shape for your radio button. Type an "Export Value" in the textbox to determine the value that will be returned to you when a user submits the form.
Step7
Go to the "Close" button to close the "Radio Button Properties" dialog box and return to your PDF document. The new settings will now be applied to your radio button.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't see the "Forms" toolbar, choose the "View" menu, point to "Toolbars" and flick on "Forms" to open it.
