How to Make a Shiny Cat Toy

Cats love shiny objects. Even more than that, they love anything that makes noise and hangs directly above their heads. Make an inexpensive toy for your cat to love and play with for hours.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Aluminum foil
  • Yarn
  • Metallic paper
  • Ball
  • Plastic shopping bag
  • Styrofoam ball
  • Metallic yarn
  • Metallic fabric
Step1
Cut a piece of aluminum foil about the size of a piece of paper.
Step2
Scrunch the foil into a very tight ball making sure no edges are left hanging out so your cat doesn't chew on them.
Step3
Tie a piece of long yarn securely around the foil ball, and attach the string to the ceiling, a chair. Make sure the ball hangs just above the floor.
Step4
Wrap metallic paper around a tennis ball, ping pong ball or any other small object. Secure it in place with a lot of clear packaging tape, and attach a long string to either hang or pull around.
Step5
Find a metallic yarn to wrap in a tight ball. Make sure to leave some of the yarn hanging out so your cat has something to chase and pull around.
Step6
Cover a styrofoam ball with a metallic fabric, yarn or individual bells. Glue them to the ball with hot glue.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get even craftier and tie a few bells to the string. Make sure they are tied on tight so your cat doesn't get them off and choke on them.
  • Check the foil or metallic wrap once in a while to make sure it isn't breaking apart.
  • Make the ball bigger than your cats mouth so it can't accidentally swallow it and choke.
