How to Locate Muscle Groups for Massage

A massage is a healthy and beneficial way to relax the muscles. Massages are a great method for alleviating muscle pain, increasing joint flexibility, lessening depression and anxiety. Learn about the major muscle groups of the human body. It helps you give beneficial massages.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Obtain a clear diagram of the human body. These diagrams are available in most basic biology books and medical journals.

  2. Step 2

    Focus on the main muscle groups that you're working on in massage. Begin with the upper shoulders. This area of the body is referred to as the deltoids.

  3. Step 3

    Move your eyes down the diagram to the chest region. This area is called the pectorals.

  4. Step 4

    Observe the muscles in the arms. Two major muscle groups make up the arms. The upper frontal area of the arm is called the biceps. The triceps are located on the upper backside of the arm.

  5. Step 5

    Look at the stomach area on the diagram. Examine the area of the lower stomach, there is a muscle group referred to as the rectus abdominis.

  6. Step 6

    Shift your focus to the legs. The leg muscle group is called the tabilas anterior.
