How to Make a Perfect Square From Regular Printer Paper
To make a perfect square shape from a piece of printer paper that is standard size, you don't need any rulers or any special instruments. A perfect square has four sides the same length. This size paper can be used for many art projects, origami projects or for just about any reason. The more careful you are to match up the paper's corners, the more perfect your square will be.

1
Start by making sure you have a standard, regular sized piece of printer paper. It should measure 8 ½ inches by 11 inches. Most printer paper that is purchased in bulk is this size, so it doesn't need to be measured, but odd sized paper is usable in most situations.
-
2
Lay the piece of paper flat on the surface. Position it so that the shorter sides of the paper are horizontal across the surface you are working on.
-
3
Fold the top, right corner of the piece of printer paper down, to the point where it meets the opposite side. Generally, this will be about ¾ of the way down the sheet of paper's left side. This forms a triangle on the top portion of the piece of paper.
-
4
Don't crease the paper until you have aligned the corner evenly. The top portion of the piece of paper should be laying against the left side of the piece of paper. Crease the edge when they sides are evenly aligned.

5
Cut the bottom portion of the paper off at the bottom edge of the triangle. Open up the triangle, and you have a perfectly square piece of paper from the printer paper.
