Every student, whether in elementary school, high school or college, will find a time when they need to do a science project. And many times, students put it off until the last minute. Whether intimidated or a little lost in science class, or if you're just a regular procrastinator, it is possible to put together a science project in only one week.

1
Choose a field of science that you find interesting and research it on Day 1. Choose between Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Meteorology, or Physics. Focus on one field of science and do some research on new science topics within that field.
-
2
Find a problem that is happening in the field you chose on Day 1. Watch scientific current events on shows like "Nature" on PBS, National Geographic shows, or Discovery Channel shows. Read newspapers, Popular Mechanics, and other easy to read scientific magazines. Find a problem that interests you.
-
3
Determine how you would fix the problem on Day 2. Observe the problem, video and film the problem, and write down your observations. This will form the basis for the display board. Begin to piece together the problem, how you will fix it, and whether it is fixable at all.
-
4
Make the bulletin board explaining your steps to the answer to your problem on Day 2. Follow all the science project guidelines you were given. Visually layout your science project on paper in front of you. Make each piece of the project on separate paper and then attach the paper to the board. You can switch the pieces around later if things work out a little differently once the experiment happens.
-
5
Begin the experiment on Day 3. There are several books, websites, and other tools out there for science projects. Choose an experiment that has already been done and is similar to your ideas, and copy parts of it, making sure to make it your own by including your own ideas and research. Check out Delta Education, Carolina Biological Supply Company, and other home school science websites.
-
6
Run the experiment on Days 4 through 7 and write up a report about the results. Add finishing touches that weren't completed in Step 4. Add before and after pictures of the experiment with captions below each picture. Add the scientific method and sign your work. Read over the guidelines and make sure you have completed each required step.
