How to Make Bat Chips for Halloween

No Halloween party can be complete without some crispy, crunchy bat wings. The bat wings might seem creepy, but they're actually quite healthy, made from corn or flour tortillas, with a bit of olive oil and seasonings. They're easy to make, and are bound to add to the Halloween fun. Make some ghoulishly delicious dip to go along, and your party will be complete. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Blue corn tortillas
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Seasoning salt, cajun spices, or seasonings of your choice
  • Bat shaped cookie cutters
  • Pastry brush

Instructions

      Cut out bat shapes from the corn tortillas with the bat shaped cookie cutter.

      Use the pastry brush to apply a light coating of extra virgin olive to to both sides of the bat chip.

      Sprinkle a bit of seasoning salt on both sides.

      Arrange the bat chips in a single layer on a baking pan and broil them. Watch them carefully, because chips under the broiler will burn quickly. Turn them once so both sides will be crispy.

      Remove the bat chips from the oven, and serve them either hot or cold.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are unable to find blue corn tortillas, use large flour tortillas.

  • You can also create Halloween chips with other Halloween style cookies cutters, such as ghosts, pumpkins, etcetera.

  • Gooey, green avocado dip is perfect with Halloween bat chips. Simply mash three ripe avocados and add a small, finely diced onion, a drop of Tabasco sauce, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a diced tomato.
