Invite your Halloween party guests to gaze into your wiggly crystal ball. It may not tell their future, but the stars, moons and planets suspended in the crystal ball are bound to get their attention. Once they've gazed long enough, serve up some of the wiggly crystal ball, because the flavor is cosmically delicious.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 (3 oz.) packages lemon gelatin
  • 6 cups boiling water
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
  • Watermelon
  • Cantaloupe
  • Honeydew melon
  • Blueberries
  • Crescent moon cookie cutter
  • Star cookie cutter
  • Plate or tray
  1. Step 1

Place the lemon gelatin and the unflavored gelatin in a large mixing bowl and pour the boiling water over the mixture. Stir the mixture until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

  2. Step 2

Put the gelatin mixture in the refrigerator until it's partially set, about 1 1/2 hours.

  3. Step 3

Use the star and moon shaped cookie cutters to cut the watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew melon into cosmic shapes.

  4. Step 4

Remove the soft gelatin from the refrigerator and push the fruit shapes and blueberries into the gelatin.

  5. Step 5

Return the bowl to the refrigerator and chill it until it's completely gelled, about 4 hours.

  6. Step 6

Prepare an attractive plate or tray for the wiggly crystal ball.

  7. Step 7

Put the bowl of gelatin briefly into a bowl of hot water. Carefully remove the gelatin from the bowl and invert it onto the tray.

Tips & Warnings
  • Any fruit that can be cut into star and moon shapes will work great in a wiggly crystal ball. If you don't have blueberries, any small, round fruit will make terrific planets.
  • If you don't have star and moon cookie cutters, slice some thin melon pieces and cut the shapes carefully with a sharp paring knife.
