Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cake mix in flavor of your choice
  • Paper muffin cups
  • White or buttercream frosting
  • Green food coloring
  • Black string licorice
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • Round candies for vampire eyes
  • Assorted candy for teeth
  1. Step 1

Mix the cake batter according to the directions on the box, and pour the batter into a paper-lined muffin tin, filling the cups about three quarters full.

  2. Step 2

Bake the cupcakes as directed and allow them to cool in the muffin pan. Once the cupcakes are cool, remove them from the pan.

  3. Step 3

Mix a batch of white or buttercream frosting, and add a drop or two of green food coloring.

  4. Step 4

Frost the tops of the cupcakes with the green frosting. This will be the vampire's face.

  5. Step 5

Use your imagination and decorate the cupcake any way you like. Black licorice laces or chocolate sprinkles make great hair. Any small, round candy will work for the eyes. Try candy corn or Chiclet gum for the vampire's teeth, or snip some mini marshmallows into fangs.

Tips & Warnings
  • Black food coloring makes a spooky grayish color for vampire faces. Just blend a very small amount with the white or buttercream frosting.
  • If the cupcakes are for adults, add a bit of strawberry syrup "blood."
