How to Make a Hot Chocolate Milkshake
Hot chocolate milkshakes are an unusual blend of hot and cold American favorites. Milkshakes got their humble beginnings in 1885 as an alcoholic beverage and evolved into the drink of choice in 1930s malt shops. Things You'll Need
- 12 miniature chocolate pieces
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 cup milk
- Metal whisk
- 4 tsps. hot chocolate mix
- 2 tsps. white sugar
- Blender
- 4 cups of ice
- 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream
- 2 cups of cream
- Glass
- Whipped cream
- Cheese grater
- Straw

Put 12 miniature chocolate pieces in a bowl with a 1/2 cup of warm water. Turn on the microwave for about 4 minutes to melt the chocolate. Stop the microwave at 2 minutes to stir the bowl. Start the microwave again for the duration.

Pour 1 cup of milk into the bowl and stir it with a metal whisk for the chocolate to be soft. Add 4 tsps. of hot chocolate mix and 2 tsps. of white sugar into the chocolate. Continue stirring until the milkshake is smooth. Allow the bowl to settle before pouring the milkshake into the blender.

Open the blender and add 4 cups of ice and 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream. Pour in 2 cups of cream to thicken the milkshake. Add 2 tsps. of ground cinnamon for extra flavor before you turn on the blender.

Close the blender and turn it on high to begin mixing. Stop mixing briefly and taste the milkshake to see if it needs any more sugar. If the milkshake needs more, pour in a little more sugar and turn the blender back on. Mix the milkshake until it has the thickness of a smoothie.

Grab a glass for the milkshake and a spoon for the whipped cream. Grate some chocolate on a cheese grater to make chocolate shavings as a garnish for the milkshake. Drop a straw in the glass and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
Don't put in too much hot chocolate mix because it dominates the taste of the milkshake, and that is not the intent of the drink.
