Scuff marks on floors are unsightly and take away from the aesthetic appeal of your home. Fortunately, you can clean dark scruff marks off of your floor without using harsh chemicals or tools.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put on a new pair of white, rubber-soled tennis shoes. Use your heel to rub the scuff mark off of the floor. Gauge how hard you should work your heel into the scuff mark by periodically checking the results on the floor.

  2. Step 2

Find a new, clean tennis ball. Rub the scuff mark with the tennis ball until it leaves a clean floor surface.

  3. Step 3

Use a dryer sheet to wipe the scuff marks away. Fold the dryer sheet into a square and use circular motions to take the scuff marks off of your floor.

  4. Step 4

Smooth scuff marks away using a regular pencil eraser. Some dark scuff marks can be erased simply by treating the marks with an eraser.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wax your floor regularly to guard against dark scuff marks.
  • Use chemicals on your floor to get rid of scuff marks as a last result. Remember to make sure the chemicals won't damage your specific type of floor.
  • Don't use harsh scrubbing tools like scrubbing pads, steel wood or sandpaper on your floor. The damage that occurs may have to be repaired by a professional.
  • Consult with a professional if your floor is made out of customized or expensive material. These types of floors may require special care.
