Widescreen monitors have made our lives easier when we make PowerPoint presentations. A widescreen monitor makes our job easier, but not if the file we are using does not adapt. Learn how to adjust your PowerPoint presentation for the new widescreen monitors.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • PowerPoint program
  • Widescreen monitor

Step1
Look into tools to help you bring an older file into sync with the newer widescreen monitors. Wondershare PPT2Flash Professional and Pointecast Publisher are good examples.
Step2
Select the "PPT2Flash" icon on the toolbar, using Wondershare's programs. Next, choose "Cascade" then "Player Templates." View the panel to the left of the screen. This helps you bring your PowerPoint presentation into modern times.
Step3
Personalize the grey panel with up-to-date information on your company including logo. This is a great way to handle such a problem. It even looks like you planned it that way.
Step4
Set up your file so it expects to use the widescreen monitor. Choose the "Design" tab from within PowerPoint. Access "Page Setup" group then select "Slides" from the drop down boxes. You will see two options from which to choose: "On-screen Show (16:9)" and "On-screen Show (16:10)."

Tips & Warnings

  • When selecting the slide sizes, check to see how they look in print preview before finalizing the slide to be sure you don't have more work later in corrections. Text and images distort if you try to show them later in the wrong screen size.
