How to Make a Whip With a T-Shirt

Anyone who has ever gone to summer camp or had siblings knows that when you're not using a t-shirt to cover your body, it can be used to inflict pain on others. Simply twisting the shirt up in a spiral and flicking is one way to whip your friends, but you can make a more reliable whip that will last much longer with just a few folds.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • T-shirt

Step1
Lay the t-shirt out flat. Fold both of the sleeves in over the body of the shirt.
Step2
Take the bottom left corner and fold it up towards the right arm. You want to fold it until there is a point at the bottom right corner and the bottom of the shirt is now even with the right edge of the shirt.
Step3
Roll the shirt from the right side (the longer side of the triangle) all the way to the left. Roll tightly so that all of the folds stay in place.
Step4
Hold the thicker end of the rolled up shirt (where the collar is) in your hand with the thinner tip coming out of the top to form the whip.
Step5
Flick the entire shirt to whip the end. For a better pop when you whip, wet the end slightly (like kids with beach towels do at the pool).

Tips & Warnings

  • This method of creating a whip from a t-shirt requires considerable more time than the typical twist and whip method. While it's much more effective and produces a whip that can be used over and over without have to be re-rolled, make sure you can safely spend a minute to prepare the whip without anyone sneaking up and sabotaging you.
