If you find yourself getting a little too worked up when someone you know shares an opinion, or if you find that you worry excessively about what others think of you, it may be time to take your focus off of others' opinions. Follow these steps to learn how to be cool about what anyone else thinks, no matter how much you may disagree.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Listen to your friends and family members without interrupting and giving your opinion right away. Realize that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, whether you agree with it or not.
Step2
Focus more on your own life and on your personal goals instead of focusing on what others think of you and your goals.
Step3
Surround yourself with friends and family members who you're comfortable with and who accept you for who you are. Make sure to be accepting of them and their opinions in return.
Step4
Be confident in yourself and in your own opinions so that you can listen to others' opinions and reactions without taking offense or getting too worked up.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you know someone who is overly critical of you or others, and you find yourself constantly worrying about what he thinks of you, consider spending less time with this person or letting him know that if he wants to be your friend, he needs to bite his tongue instead of saying all of the rude thoughts that come to his head.
