How to Edit a Profile in Trillian

Trillian is a software application which allows you to simultaneously communicate with your Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ and AOL Instant Messenger. After you download and install Trillian, one of the first things you'll want to do is set up your Trillian profile so you can let others know who you are and start communicating.

Instructions

1. Connect to the Trillian profile you want to edit. Open Trillian and choose "Trillian Preferences" from the Trillian menu. Then, click on "Identities and Connections." Select the profile you want to edit and hit the "Connect" button.

2. Select "My Identity Information" from the Trillian menu. This takes you to the profile settings for the profile you connected to.

3. Click on "Basic Information" from the menu at the left. Here you can change the name which others will see when you connect to Trillian. In the text box next to "Display Name" enter the name you want to be known as.

4. Pick an icon to associate with your account. This icon will display when you open a conversation with one of your contacts. Choose "My Icon" from the menu at the left and pick one of the available icons. The displayed icons are the default Windows icons.

5. Edit your Trillian biography. Click on "Biography" from the menu at the left. Type a short description of yourself so other users can get to know you better.

Tips & Warnings

• If you choose the "I'd like to use the same icon I use for Microsoft Windows" option displayed under the icons, your Trillian icon will always be the same as the icon associated with your Windows account.

• Choose "Browse for more pictures" under the displayed icons to select a picture from your hard drive to use as your icon.
