Some of the items you can personalize include the background, sounds you hear for different programs, screen savers and your display settings.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Go to your "Desktop" and right click. Select "Personalize." Alternatively, open your "Control Panel," which is located on your "Start" menu under "Settings." It may also be on your "Desktop." Click on "Personalization."
Step2
Change your background by clicking on "Desktop Backgrounds." Look at the pictures that come up. Choose one of these or click "Browse" to get more choices. When you pick a picture, pick "OK" and go to your "Desktop" where you will see it displayed. If you don't like it, repeat the step and choose another picture.
Step3
Decide on a new screen saver. Pick "Screen Saver" from the "Personalize" menu. A new window will open and you can see the screen saver that is in use. In the drop down box, you can pick a different screen saver or you can use your own photos. If you choose to use your own photos, select "Photos" then select "Settings" and pick the directory where your pictures are stored. Press "OK" to save your screen settings.
Step4
Click on "Sounds" to change the sounds some programs use. Go through the different programs listed in the box, such as "Close Program" and "Exit Window," and decide on the sound you want to associate with each of these actions. Windows has a default for each of the programs, or you can change the default for the program. When you have finished, press "OK" and you will hear the new sounds.
Step5
Look at the other choices you can make. You can change the way your display settings are and the color and style of your windows as well as adjusting the font size so you can see information displayed more clearly.
