How to Make a Jurassic Park Story With Zoo Tycoon

“Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs" is part of the tycoon simulation series from Microsoft Game Studios. Rollercoaster Tycoon success bred copycat games including Zoo Tycoon. Even with its poor graphics and weak sound effects, Zoo Tycoon is an excellent game for a father and daughter to play together. The game allows you to build exhibits, research new species, create concession stands and keep everything running smoothly.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Build a compost building on any map corner. The Zoo staff will never need to visit it and it automatically converts waste piles.

  2. Step 2

Choose building restaurants instead of food courts. Restaurants do not require maintenance workers and meet all of your guests needs. Players who also have Zoo Tycoon: Marine Mania should add a "Swim Shack." Your guests will be tired and hungry after their swim and spend a lot of money in the restaurant.

  3. Step 3

Open the zoo with a low admission fee. Set the fee to $19. Guests will flock to your zoo because this is a cheap price. Have your scientists researching new animals during your grand opening. After several months, raise the price to $29.

  4. Step 4

Hire zoo staff at the beginning of the month. In Zoo Tycoon scenarios, only hire scientists in the first month. Assign zookeepers to exhibits that are next to each other.

  5. Step 5

Expand your zoo slowly. Meet each animal's needs and both they and your guests will be happy. Build exhibits large enough to house two animals. When building a "Jurassic Park" zoo, only assign your scientists to research on "Dinosaur Digs" topics.

Tips & Warnings
  • Naming a guest "DINOMAN" unlocks all dinosaurs.
  • You'll find Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs Demo on Microsoft's website. (See link in the Resource section.)
  • Do not assign more than three exhibits to one zookeeper.
