A double harness bend joins two different lines together. It is most suited for small line and is commonly used for tying packages or broken shoe laces without unlacing them.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pull two lines together so that they overlap. We will call the line on the left line A and the line on the right will be line B. Bend line B into three quarters of a complete overhand loop so that the working end is on top of the standing end and points straight up.

  2. Step 2

Push the working end of line A through the loop created in Step 1 from above. Pull it out from the bottom of this loop next to the working end of line B.

  3. Step 3

Bring the working end of line A over the working end of line B and bend it into a right angle so that its over the standing end of line B and points straight down.

  4. Step 4

Move the working end of line behind the standing end of line B and then above it. Bring the working end back over the standing end of line B but under the resulting loop of line A.

  5. Step 5

Take the slack out of the knots, working toward the standing ends. When the knots are small enough, you can tighten it further by pulling the standing ends in opposite directions. Use caution to ensure the knots do not deform or capsize before you tighten the knots completely.
