How to Create an Investor Deck

Finding investors is key to nearly any business and one way to give a professional summary of yourself and your operation is to create an investor deck. Investor's listen to lots of pitches, and you need to stand out. The slide presentation shows what you are about, where you are going and, if you do it right, inspires investors to back you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Format the slide show for your deck using between 10 and 20 slides and a font that is 30 point or larger. Put notes next to images, not on top of them, so you don't clutter up the page and have sections that are unreadable.
Step2
Dive in immediately with your business description and mission statement. This is not a novel in which you're trying to hook a reader. An investor wants cold, hard facts upfront.
Step3
Address the problem your company addresses and stress your solutions to the problems. Cite examples of past work that's been a success for you and for your clients.
Step4
Demonstrate to investors how your product is one-of-a-kind by comparing it to competitors' products. Show your products strengths and show statistics highlighting positive performance.
Step5
Introduce the work team along with their credentials. Cite ways your team is unique so investors realize they have innovative workers on hand.
Step6
Conclude with financial goals and a time line of projected projects based on funding.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid fancy music and graphics since they tend to be distracting. This is a time to stick to the facts and get your work into the investor's hands.
