It's hard to skateboard like Rob Dyrdek or Ryan Sheckler, but you can dress like them or like any other skater. You just need to brush up on what really makes the look, and scout out deals on the best clothing and gear.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Express your personal style. If you want to dress like a skater, then don't take yourself or anything else too seriously. Wear what you like instead of focusing on what others think. Nobody likes a poser. Skip any items that super trendy or mainstream.
Step2
Make comfort a priority. Functionality is a huge part of skater fashion. If you can't do tricks in a particular outfit or item, then it is kind of pointless. Go for roomy pieces that don't hinder your body's movements in any way.
Step3
Rely on the classics. To dress like a skater, build your wardrobe around everyday pieces. Jeans and T-shirts are staple items. You can never have too many. Hooded sweatshirts and jackets, boxers, cargo pants and shorts are also good choices.
Step4
Get graphic. Your clothes speak volumes about your personality. Choose pieces with cool pictures or funny phrases on them that represent who you are. You can also go to sites like Cafepress.com or Zazzle.com to create your own.
Step5
Sport the right shoes. There are many popular brands of skater shoes. Vans have practically crossed over to mainstream fashion. Check into other options like Emerica, Sneaux, DVS or Fallen.
Step6
Play with accessories. To dress like a skater, skip the flashy jewelry and choose more low key add-ons. Hats are always good. Think skull and baseball caps. Wristbands, head bands, socks and leather bracelets also work well.
