You can laminate a name tag to protect it from wear and damage, or to retain it as a keepsake of some special event. If the tag is laminated, it will be much easier to preserve in a photo album or scrapbook.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Name tag
  • Tag sleeve
  • Laminating machine
Step1
Cut the name tag to fit into a laminating sleeve designed to fit around a luggage tag. Place the trimmed tag into the sleeve and turn on the machine.
Step2
Let the machine warm for 10 to 15 minutes. Choose a fast speed for the name tag.
Step3
Feed the closed side of the sleeve into the machine slowly. Line up the sleeve in a straight line perpendicular to the machine's edge. Push the sleeve into the machine gently.
Step4
Stop pushing the sleeve once the machine begins to carry it. The sleeve will emerge on the other side once the lamination is complete. Trim any excess plastic if the tag was much smaller than the sleeve. Leave enough plastic around the edges to hold sleeve together on all sides.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once laminated, a name tag can be adorned with bits of ribbon or other colorful ornamental bit. Try punching a hole through a corner and tying a ribbon or attaching a colorful brad through it.
