There are a few packing tips that can keep you organized so that you don't forget any of the odds and ends you'll need on the road. Start well in advance and make a list. This gives you time to add items as you think of important things to pack.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a list of things to pack. Your list is one of the most important packing tips you can use to avoid forgetting things you need.

  2. Step 2

List the places you'll visit on your trip. This packing tip will help you think of items you may want while you're there, such as sun screen for water parks or your video camera for tourist attractions.

  3. Step 3

Consider accessories for the items on your list. For instance, you'll want your cell phone and its charger. Remember the accessories for your digital recorder, as well. Take along a battery charger if your electronics use rechargeable batteries.

  4. Step 4

Pack your bag thoughtfully. Place flat surfaces, like your battery chargers or your shoes, against the flat side of your suitcase. This takes less room and saves your suitcase wear and tear.

  5. Step 5

Put anything liquid into a sealable plastic bag in case it's punctured or leaks in transit. This packing tip goes for for shampoos, colognes, makeup or any other liquids you pack.

  6. Step 6

Keep your hotel information, rental car information and flight tickets with you in your carryon case so you can access them easily.
