When it comes to competitive cheerleading, every detail counts, from high jumps to sharp, tight motions, to the proper position of your hands and fists. Learn to make proper cheerleading fists to give your routine the finished touch that impresses judges.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open your hands so that your fingers are straight and pointed toward the ceiling.

  2. Step 2

Roll your fingers into cheerleading fists. Tightly tuck your fingers into your palms so that you can't see your fingernails.

  3. Step 3

Place your thumb across the outside of your tucked fingers to complete the fist.

  4. Step 4

Check if your fists are level. Don't bend your wrist forward or backward. Your fists should be tight, level and aligned with your forearms.

Tips & Warnings
  • The only time your cheerleading fists should face inward is in the Touchdown position. Both arms raise tightly next to your ears with your fists facing each other.
  • Never tuck your thumb under your fingers. This common mistake makes your fist appear uneven.
