Every receiver dreams of making the big catch and scoring a touchdown. But the game of football is a team sport. All of the players need to pitch in and play different roles in order to win. Sometimes you must block, not catch the ball. Block aggressively and you can help you team to a victory.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Execute a quick first step at the snap of the ball. Take advantage of knowing the snap count, which is information your opponent doesn't have. Being aggressive means getting a head start on hitting your opponent rather than being hit.
Step2
Drive yourself into the body of your opponent to take him away from the ball carrier or the receiver.
Step3
Pump your legs to maintain momentum and continue to drive your opponent backward. The idea is to give your ball carrier more space to maneuver and move forward towards the goal line.
Step4
Push your arms forward, repeatedly striking your hands against the defender's shoulder pads. Attack aggressively to compel your opponent to retreat.
Step5
React to the defender's attempts to deflect your block. Keep your feet moving to maintain balance. Continue driving into the body of the defender until the referee blows the play dead.

Tips & Warnings

  • Vary the angle of approach to your block with different plays to keep your opponent off guard.
