Instructions

    • 1

Wipe down the railings with warm, soapy water. Put a few drops of marine grade boat soap in a bucket of warm soapy water to wash off dirt, grease and handprints. Allow the railings to dry thoroughly before moving on to Step 2.

    • 2

Apply a metal polish that is safe for all types of metal such as NEVR-DULL (see Resources below), especially if you aren't sure whether your railings are stainless steel or chrome. Rub the polisher on and off according to the manufacturer's instructions. Remove the polish from the rails within 15 to 20 minutes. The removal process is easier if you don't let the polish dry on the rails for too long.

    • 3

Buff the polish. After the metal polish has dried to a haze, rub the railings with a clean soft cloth.

    • 4

Spray on a metal protectant. Use a marine grade protectant such as Maguiar's Metal Guard (see Resources below) to prevent corrosion.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never use abrasive pads or cleansers when cleaning railings. These will scratch and mar the metal.
