Step 1
Choose decorations for yourcandle jars before you pour the wax. This will allow anything you've painted or glued to dry completely. Make sure that the candle wax will pour down over the decorations and still let them show through.
-
Step 2
Find inspiration for your soy candle jar decorations in nature. Sea shells, stones, pebbles and even pieces of glass can make great decorations. Layer them in the bottom of the jar and pour wax over them. Make sure that the shells or stones are up against the side of the jar so that they're visible through the wax.
-
Step 3
Paint the outside of your jar with a personalized decoration. Kids can help paint candle jars or decorate them with their handprints in paint. Paint thinly enough for the flame to show through once it's been lit.
-
Step 4
Glue decorations to the outside of the jar around the top and bottom to create a border. Use glitter, ribbon or beads in colors that accent the wax color or the candle's scent. Make sure any decorations you glue around the top of the jar won't be in the path of the flame when your candle is lit.
-
Step 5
Decorate with materials that are safe to use for a candle jar. If you paint the inside of the jar, don't use oil-based or flammable paint. When choosing natural elements to line the bottom of the jar, don't use driftwood, twigs or leaves, as these could catch fire.
