Things You'll Need:
- Paper
- Pen
- Glue
- Rubber band
- Tin foil
- Plastic wrap
- Material
- Cardboard
- Clay
-
Step 1
Put one end of your rain stick on a piece of construction paper, brown craft paper or grocery bag paper. Trace around the circular end and then draw a larger circle around that circle.
-
Step 2
Cut slits in the paper from the outer edge of the large circle to the outer edge of the small circle. The circle should look like it has fringe around it. Apply glue to the end of the rain stick and place the paper seal on the open end. Push down the fringe of the paper, secure with a rubber band and wait for it to dry.
-
Step 3
Seal the ends quickly by cutting out a piece of tin foil, plastic wrap or strong material, like felt, slightly wider than the diameter of the rain stick. Fold the foil, plastic wrap or material over the ends of the rain stick and secure the seal with a rubber band.
-
Step 4
Create a natural-looking seal by tracing the diameter of the tube onto a piece of cardboard. Cut the circle out and use a strong glue, like hot glue or superglue, to glue the cardboard seal onto the rain stick.
-
Step 5
Get fancy with the rain stick by sealing the ends with clay. Use clay that hardens as it dries. Fit the clay around the end of the rain stick, smoothing it out as you seal the end. Your rain stick seals once the clay dries.
