Kaleidoscopes have long been a craft staple. Knowing how to assemble the beads for a kaleidoscope is essential to this project, as the colorful beads provide the wondrous visions we see through the end.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hot glue gun
  • Glue sticks
  • Transparency paper
  • Lens
  • Utility knife
  • Beads
  1. Step 1

Plug in the glue gun in and allow it to heat up for a few minutes, while you set out your other supplies.

  2. Step 2

Cut the transparency to the size and shape of the lens, and then use a bead of glue to attach the transparency to the lens. Allow the glue to dry. Scrape off any overhand with the utility knife so that you have a clean edge. This will make it easier to attach to the tubing portion of the kaleidoscope.

  3. Step 3

Make sure the main components of the kaleidoscope are in place. Once you have it together, you can slip in your beads, broken glass pieces, bits of colored plastic or other items. Slide the lens into place and see the designs it makes. You can choose how many beads to add based on the look you want. Once you have decided, glue the lens into place.

  4. Step 4

Seal the other side of the lens using the same method you used in Step 2. Glue a piece of transparency to another lens and glue the lens to the open side of the triangular piece of cardboard. Remove any glue overhanging on the lens with the utility knife.
