Potato pancakes are a great way to use leftover mashed potatoes. They are tasty and make an excellent side dish for any kind of meat. Here are a few steps on how to fry a potato pancake.

Things You'll Need:

  • Bowl of mashed potatoes
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Frying pan
  • Olive oil
  • Spatula
  • Plate
  • Paper towel
  1. Step 1

    Mix the cheddar cheese with the mashed potatoes. Use your hands to form medium-sized balls with the mashed potato mixture. Flatten each ball out into a a pancake. Set them aside.

  2. Step 2

    Heat the olive oil in a frying pan. Place the flattened potato pancakes into the pan.

  3. Step 3

    Fry the potato pancake on one side until the edges brown. Move the potato pancake around the pan to prevent it from sticking.

  4. Step 4

    Flip the potato pancake over and fry on the opposite side until the edges are golden brown. Once again, move the potato pancake around inside the frying pan to prevent it from sticking to the pan.

  5. Step 5

    Remove the pancake after both sides are golden brown and lay it on a plate covered with a paper towel. The paper towel will absorb the excess oil on the potato pancake.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add broccoli to your pancake mixture for added taste.
  • Do not walk off from the frying potato cake. They can stick to the pan and easily burn.
