Arroz con pollo translates as "rice with chicken." It is a popular dish that is served in many variations throughout Latin American. There are several steps in preparing this delicious dish. Browning the rice is one of the first things you do.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Heat some olive oil in a frying pan for a few minutes until it lightly smokes.

  2. Step 2

    Add the white rice to the pan. Stir the rice around with a wooden spoon until it is covered in olive oil.

  3. Step 3

    Pour enough olive oil over the rice to just about cover it. Stir the rice for about 5 to 10 minutes. If you do not keep moving the rice, it will burn. Remove the rice from the stove once it is lightly browned.
