Before its sponsorship by Budweiser and Urban Outfitters, beer pong was a cult game played in basements and backyards by young Americans across the country. Just because it has gone corporate doesn't mean that it's not still cool to enjoy a few games. Bring the soul back to beer pong with this winning strategy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set the cups up right. Beer pong starts with either 6 or 10 cups. Stack them in a pyramid shape with each one touching the others. Center the pyramid in the middle of the table with no more than half a thumb's length from the edge of the table.

  2. Step 2

Choose the right formation. You can rearrange twice in the game. The first stack should resemble a smaller pyramid. The second stack allows you to be more creative. One effective formation is to make a "T" with the cups. By having three cups in the back row, it gives the opponent a more difficult target to focus on.

  3. Step 3

Wash the ball after every shot. Hygiene often not valued in a good game of beer pong. The ball starts off sitting in a dirty bowl. During the course of the game it travels to the floor, on the table, is passed around to several people, and spends some time in your cup. Keep a few cups of water handy to rinse the ball and at least pretend that you are being hygienic.

  4. Step 4

Keep the playing area clean so your arrangement isn't affected by a messy table. Have a rag handy: Called a "Zamboni," the beer pong rag is vital because there will be multiple spills and splashing everywhere on the table.

  5. Step 5

Keep your head when arranging your cups. Successful beer pong teams win by getting the other team drunk first and sticking to a winning strategy. Know your limits and try to keep a clear head the more you play. The object is to win, not get hammered.
