Absinthe is the green alcohol that has inspired artists and heightened their creative juices for several centuries. Although the commercial sale of Absinthe is illegal in America, home brewing kits are available, allowing everyone to try this wormwood-infused tincture. After creating the basic absinthe liquid, filtering the mixture is necessary to create as pure and as clean a taste as possible.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bowl
  • Water
  • Brew kit
  • Filter
  • Absinthe
  • Funnel
  • Containers
  1. Step 1

Remove the micron filter from the brewing kit and take it out of the plastic packaging. If you do not have an actual brewing kit and are making your absinthe from scratch, look online for filters suitable for home brewing.

  2. Step 2

Soak the micron filter in cold water for 10 minutes to activate the filtering system. Any ordinary plastic container or bowl is suitable to hold the water.

  3. Step 3

Place the wet filter inside a plastic funnel suitable for food and liquid. Pick up a cheap filter at your local discount store if one does not come with your kit. The filter should cover the hole inside the funnel to maximize its effect.

  4. Step 4

Set the funnel inside a clean plastic container large enough to hold the absinthe mixture.

  5. Step 5

Pour the absinthe into the funnel, making sure the liquid passes through the filter before filling the container. Be sure to hold the filter steady as you pour to prevent spilling or toppling.

  6. Step 6

Switch the filter and funnel to the original container (after cleaning), and repeat the filtering process. Consider filtering the absinthe three or four times to ensure as many particles as possible have been removed.

  7. Step 7

Discard the filter after finishing the filter process.
