Desserts don't have to be all luxury--if you look hard enough, you can find desserts with some nutritional value. The peanut butter in this frosting adds thiamine, niacin, potassium, magnesium, phosphorous and protein, and the fat is the unsaturated "good" fat. Frost your peanut butter cupcakes with this amazing peanut butter icing for a little nutritious boost.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Premade cupcakes
  • Peanut butter frosting
  • Chopped nuts
  • Candy for decorations
  • Ice cream
  1. Step 1

Cool the cupcakes to room temperature, because a warm cupcake will tear apart when you try to apply the frosting. The heat will also cause the icing to thin out and run down the sides.

  2. Step 2

Chill the icing slightly when you frost peanut butter cupcakes. The icing's firmness helps it sit on top of the cupcake in a rounded mound.

  3. Step 3

Scoop the frosting out of the bowl 1 tbs. at a time. Use another spoon to push the frosting off the first spoon, and make a mound in the center of the cupcake or spread it out to the sides.

  4. Step 4

Sprinkle the top of the icing with chopped nuts when you frost peanut butter cupcakes, or use crunchy peanut butter frosting.

  5. Step 5

Add peanut butter pieces, chocolate kisses or a miniature chocolate mint bar to the mound of frosting. You can also decorate the frosting with pumpkin candy or candy corn for fall.

  6. Step 6

Top the cupcake with a scoop of ice cream first and pour slightly warm peanut butter icing over the ice cream. Choose plain vanilla, butter pecan, chocolate mint ice cream or just use your imagination.
