Nothing breeds anxiety in a woman like going shopping for a swimsuit, no matter what her body type. If you have a fuller bottom, buying a swimsuit can be particularly stressful. Find bathing suits that flatter your curves and feel more confident when you head out into the sun.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy a swimsuit with a skirt. Hide part of your fuller bottom with a ruffle along the top of the bathing suit bottoms. Keep the skirt simple and short in length. Skirts of just the right length help mask full hips. The ideal skirt lands just below your problem area. Avoid a skirt that is too frilly or that has heavy detailing. You don't want to draw attention downward.

  2. Step 2

Find a swimsuit that fits. Stay away from string bikinis, thong bathing suits and other bathing suits with itsy-bitsy bottoms. Be sure that your bottom is fully covered by the bathing suit.

  3. Step 3

Wear an eye-catching top. To keep attention away from your full bottom, accentuate your top half. Buy a swimsuit top that is brightly colored or patterned to complement a darker, solid-colored bottom piece. This draws people's eyes to your upper body as opposed to your lower half.

  4. Step 4

Raise the gaze even more. To draw the focus of your bathing suit even higher, buy a top that accentuates your bust and moves upward. Try a halter-top style bikini, tankini top, high-necked suit and a suit that bares your shoulders. These draw attention upward toward your neck and shoulders.

  5. Step 5

Use a wrap. If you purchase the best suit possible for your full bottom but still lack the confidence to feel good about wearing it, invest in a fashionable wrap. Tie it around your bottom half and feel good about yourself as you walk up and down the beach.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wearing board shorts is a common mistake made by people with fuller bottoms. Board shorts are designed for a boy's body and do not flatter most feminine body types.
  • Stick with dark, solid colored bathing suit bottoms. Horizontal stripes make you look wider. Big, bold, patterns draw attention to your bottom.
